The Academy of the Sacred Heart is the largest independent, private elementary school in the St. Louis metropolitan area. Founded in 1818 by St. Rose Philippine Duchesne, a member of the Society of the Sacred Heart in France, the Academy was the first of many Sacred Heart schools to be established in the United States.
